Sherry Berjeron and Bruce Oliver are authors of Working Without Pain, Eliminate Repetitive Strain Injuries with Alexander Technique. They use the Alexander Technique to help people with their daily work activities and special performance.

Sherry has studied dance since at the Boston Conservatory and continued at the Bat Dor Dance Academy in Israel where she was first referred to the Alexander Technique to resolve performance problems related to her Scoliosis. She then moved to San Francisco to enter the first class of teacher trainees graduating in 1977. Since then she has had her teaching practice located in San Francisco, San Diego, San Mateo, Chico and now Sacramento.

Sherry helps people to learn the Alexander Technique and apply it in work situations, performing arts and athletic performance. Since 1977, she has worked in doctors offices and medical clinics helping recover from injuries and overcome chronic pain. She has lectured and taught classes in Alexander Technique at UC Davis Medical Center Pain Clinic, CSU Chico, CSU San Diego and CSU Sacramento. Additionally, they have conducted seminars at Northern California Pain Clinic at Mt. Zion, P.G.& E., Women’s Health and Wellness Center, Enloe Hospital Health and Wellness Center.

Teacher Training

Sherry was approved as a Director of Teacher Training by the American Center for the Alexander Technique West in 1985 and began the Pacific Institute for the Alexander Technique (PIAT). In 1987 NASTAT was formed (now known as AmSAT) and Sherry became one of the original Teacher Training Programs to help form the new organization of teachers and schools. Since that beginning, Sherry has trained close to 50 people to become competent Alexander Technique Teachers.

Bruce Graduated from California State University Chico in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science and Teaching Credential in 1976. He qualified as a certified Alexander Technique Teacher in 1987 after completing his training with the first graduating class at the Pacific Institute for the Alexander Technique in Chico.

Since 1987, Bruce has lectured and taught Alexander Technique in medical clinics, businesses and universities including UC Davis Medical Center Pain Clinic, UC Davis Music Department, Sac State, Chico State, University of Pacific, Modesto Junior College, Pacific Gas & Electric, California EPA, California DMV, to name a few.

Teacher Training

Bruce began assisting training teachers at PIAT in 1988. By 1996 Bruce became an approved Assistant Director of Teacher Training. He aided Sherry Berjeron in training competent Alexander Technique Teachers for 20 years.
